My Story

I am a research and companies manager.  I got the role through volunteering eight years ago. However, when applying for jobs, I have experienced prejudice and judgment based on my accent and background. I was even asked if I was a spy during a job interview because of my accent. Despite this, I believe my lived experience and understanding of different cultural backgrounds make me a valuable asset to any workplace.

I think it's important for employers to ask for clarification if they don't understand something and to give feedback to candidates. This helps us learn and improve our responses in the future. I offer advice to anyone trying to gain employment, and I'm here to talk about ways to improve recruitment policies for a more diverse workforce.
