My Story
Wayne Kelly
Wayne Kelly, a 37-year veteran of Babcock International, a FTSE 250 defence industry company, wears two hats. By day, he manages nuclear safety improvements. Beyond his core role, Wayne serves as the company's global neurodiversity chair, championing support for neurodivergent employees across all sectors and countries.
Wayne's own experience with undiagnosed dyslexia for much of his career fuelled his passion for neurodiversity inclusion. Recognising the lack of support within the workplace, Wayne spearheaded the creation of a dyslexia awareness group. This initial step blossomed into a full-fledged neurodiversity network, now thriving for five years. While acknowledging the ongoing journey towards comprehensive support, Wayne emphasises the remarkable progress made.
For businesses venturing into neurodiversity inclusion, Wayne offers a key piece of advice: begin with a single, impactful change. This initial commitment demonstrates a willingness to prioritise neurodiversity, and the positive momentum will snowball into further improvements and value creation.
