Income
Ensure that everyone can meet their weekly, real cost of living expenses.
Both hourly wages and weekly pay are lower in Plymouth than in the South West or England. This is a combination of a low hourly pay and lower average hours worked.
This results in more households receiving income related benefits and contributes to the low scoring of 28 neighbourhoods in the lost 10% scores in the national Indices of Multiple Deprivation.
It is a particularly an issue for people with health challenges and caring responsibilities where more flexible job needs, restrict their access to well-paid roles with higher hourly pay rates.
