Progress for Resurgam’s sector action plans continues at pace. Each month the Sector leads update Plymouth City Council on the situation in the sector and the progress being made on their action plan for recovery.

This month, updates were given about:

Huge progress is still being made, despite the challenges of the current national lockdown restrictions continuing to put strain on Plymouth’s sectors. Despite this, sectors are feeling more positive with the recent roadmap announcement and signs of restrictions easing.

You can see each of the sector updates individually by clicking the links above, or visiting the sector pages, but some of the highlights include:

Launch of Plymouth Supplier Directory

The Plymouth Supplier Directory is a free online platform that aims to bring local business buyers and suppliers together to increase the chance of spending in the city so that Plymouth, its businesses and its residents benefit.

It’s been a city wide team effort to get the directory from an idea to reality. The Council has worked closely with the Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Small Business, Plymouth Social Enterprise Network, Building Plymouth and the University of Plymouth.

Freezone Bid

Plymouth City Council has joined forces with neighbours at Devon County Council and South Hams District Council in a bid to unlock £35 million pounds of funding for the area.

The Freeport bid, which was submitted to the government early February, would see the area become one of 10 zones around the country to benefit from import and export tax reliefs to help drive jobs, growth, and innovation.

In the submission, Plymouth’s freezone would include sites at South Yard, Langage Energy Zone and Sherford Business Park.

Skills 4 Plymouth

Plymouth City Council and partners have been exploring the set-up of a new Marine Skills Academy and Project Management Skills Academy, as well as working with Building Plymouth on building capacity for construction skills to deliver the Dockyard’s masterplan.
